SEASONINGS kicks off with the Hari Raya issue. Hari Raya Puasa (Eid) is a day of victory and celebration, but its significance can only be fully comprehended in light of the holy month that precedes it. Whether it is in the act of a family weaving ketupats, devotees cooking bubur communally in mosques for distribution to the less fortunate, or a makcik’s encouragement to take more food and not be shy, food brings a community together.
